Sometimes the most productive thing we can do is… pause.
Not rush, not finish one more task, not squeeze one more thing into the day.
Just breathe.
Rest.
Notice.
Water the garden tomatoes.
This week was a full one: Second summer session classes kicked off at Western Carolina on July 7th, I was wrapping up a project for my director with a tight deadline, and we celebrated two significant milestones at work — a goodbye party for one of our beloved providers and a baby shower for a staff member.
It’s been a week of deadlines, celebrations, and meaningful transitions… and now that it’s done, I’m reminding myself that completion is an invitation to slow down, too.
Today, I’m giving myself permission to move a little slower. To let the rhythm of rest be the rhythm of progress — because clarity, creativity, and courage often return when we stop chasing them and simply make space for them.
So if you need this reminder too: It’s okay to take your foot off the gas today.
Stillness isn’t stagnation. It’s where we reconnect with what matters most.
Journal prompt:
Where can I create just a little more breathing room in my life this weekend — and what might that make possible?
